Dreaming of an almost White Christmas.

This Christmas I headed up north to visit my Grandparents just outside of Sacramento.
They have an old  Victorian home in a small mountain gold mining town  to the east of the capital.
In the winter, the temperature drops pretty low there but rarely does it snow. This year, I kept hoping for my first white Christmas as the big day grew nearer. On Christmas morning I got my wish.. sort of. Just as the family sat down to open gifts in the morning, we peeked outside to notice something that resembled snow coming pretty down hard outside. It wasn't quite snow, more like a soft hail, but within ten minutes it had blanketed everything in the garden. The hail continued most of that day and into the next.
Unfortunately, this Christmas wasn't completely wonderful. My grandmother's dog, who has a bit a Napoleon complex attacked my Aunt's Pomeranian injuring her pretty badly and sending her into shock. After the panic settled a bit, we were able to scrape the ice of the windshields and rush her to the vet. Despite our efforts, she lived a few more days before the decision was made to put her down. Suky will be missed.
Other than that incident, I really enjoyed my stay up there. I got to spend alot of time with my Grandmother sharing old stories and cooking. I got some great gifts as well. Hopefully I'll be able to take another trip up north soon. I hope everyone had a good holiday season and I wish you all the best in the new year.
